Noise and Distortion in Images

During the process in which light, reflected by an object, is absorbed by the photoreceptors in the circuit and converted into electronic signals, the signal is affected by a variety of sources of noise, which prevent accurate modelling of the scene being viewed. Vision circuits have to see through as much of this noise as possible to interpret the observed scene. An understanding of the kind of noise found in this kind of system is therefore essential.
